Want a faster recall? Stop ending the fun every time you call your dog.
Most dogs learn that “come!” means the lead goes on, the sniffing stops and we go home. So they start ignoring it. Can you blame them?
There’s a simple rule from learning science: you can use something your dog loves to reward something you want. So call your dog, mark it with a “yes”, pop a treat in, then send them straight back. “Go sniff, off you go.” Coming to you now predicts more freedom, not less.
Practise it on every walk where it’s safe. Recall becomes the best deal going instead of the buzzkill.
