🐾Sammy the ARAN Animal Rescue NZ guest dog had a big learning day today
Like most dogs, Sammy’s got springs in his legs and enthusiasm for days. Jumping up is his go-to strategy for saying “HI I LOVE YOU PLEASE NOTICE ME RIGHT NOW!!”
Cute? Absolutely. Sustainable when he’s the size of a small horse? …Not so much. 😅
So today Papia taught him a different way to ask for attention — the down.
And here’s the magic:
Jumping up and lying down can’t happen at the same time. They’re like emotional opposites. When we make the “down” more rewarding than the jump, Sammy starts choosing it on his own… because calm communication actually works for him.
And guess what?
Sammy the Superstar nailed it. One little “aha!” moment and suddenly he’s like:
“Ohhh… this is how you humans want me to say hello!”
This boy is clever, loving, and full of heart.
And he’s looking for a home. ❤️
