🐾 Sammy our ARAN Animal Rescue NZ guest dog – Beginning His Clicker Training Journey
Sammy is starting to find his feet in his new training environment, and it’s a joy to watch. No pressure, no judgement — just space for him to explore, think, and begin understanding how the world works in a way that feels safe for him.
Over the next few days, we’ll be shaping Sammy’s behaviour through calm, thoughtful clicker work. Nothing complicated — simply capturing the great choices he already offers and guiding him gently toward even better ones.
He’s working with Papia, our professional clicker trainer and Certified Training Partner with the Karen Pryor Academy in the US. Her approach is beautifully calm and connection-based: quiet timing, clear communication, and a whole lot of kindness. Sammy responds to this immediately — you can see his little brain switch on the second the clicker comes out.
This is where trust grows. This is where learning feels good.
And this is where Sammy begins discovering who he can become.
